We hope you haven’t had enough of Flutter events yet! LeanCode is a partner of the Flutter Firebase Festival in Prague and we would like you to join us there at our booth. F3 is a 2-day event (26-27 September) with talks and workshops from the leading experts in the industry, including those from LeanCode. The main idea behind it is to unify the Flutter & Firebase communities in the heart of Europe and create a space for having fun, learning, and cooperating together.

LeanCode talk about Patrol & Firebase at F3

During the Flutter Firebase Festival, in addition to interesting talks from the Google team, you will also be able to hear about Patrol - our open-source Flutter UI testing framework. This time our team members - Mateusz Wojtczak, Head of Mobile and Julia Borkowska, Head of QA - have prepared a new talk called “Why mock Firebase when you can just test it with Patrol”.

When you have an app that uses Firebase and want to add E2E UI testing to it, you can approach a common issue: you cannot interact with native UI from your Flutter tests. That means you can’t grant permissions, tap on push notification, or sign in with Google. Fortunately, this can be solved by using Patrol. During this talk, Mateusz and Julia will show you how to test Firebase in your integration tests instead of mocking it, making everything easier.

Join their talk on September 26th, at 11.30 AM at the Holi Stage. The full schedule of F3 you can find here.

Why is it worth joining Flutter Firebase Festival?

Maybe you have been following the updates about the Flutter Firebase Festival and know what you can expect from this event. If not, we are happy to bring it closer to you.

It’s not a surprise if we mention that one of the reasons are talks. A huge plus is that most of the talks that you can attend are entirely new, so even if you have participated in any other Flutter event this year, you will be able to get new learnings and insights. The conference itself will be opened by a keynote from Francis Ma, Sr. Director of Product, Firebase @ Google, and Michael Thomsen, Group Product Manager for Dart & Flutter @ Google. They will share a sneak peek of Windows support and multi-device support for Flutter and Firebase.

Another thing is that the organizers and partners of the Flutter Firebase Festival have planned many activities in between. You can visit Google both and interact with Flutter and Firebase beyond the common cases. You can check out how displaying your Flutter app may work on small screens, medium screens, large screens, super large screens, round screens, flexible screens, running your apps on small boards, mini PCs, and more. If you are curious about testing Flutter apps, come by to the LeanCode booth, where we will build a Patrol testing station so you can try writing UI tests with it and then test on the example app and get rewards for your effort.

During the conference, you can also play, solo or in a team, an exclusive retro game, "The Legend of the Eternal Flame," built with Flutter, where you can collect keys & find something hidden for a special reward. You can try your luck at the Roulette game at The Gadget Booth, triggered by an IoT Smart button. Another one is a Giant Robot Game – a real-time tactical mech rogue-lite where you battle, hack, and save humanity. After trying this one, you can take part in "Dash & Sparky's QRious Finds" - a captivating scavenger hunt woven into the F3 conference app! You basically discover hidden in the conference area QR treasures & have fun.

Summing up

We hope we convinced you and you will join Flutter Firebase Festival. Don’t forget to add on your list the talk about Patrol and then try it yourself at our booth. Also, besides our speakers, there will be a chance to catch other LeanCode team members and the LeanCode founders - Łukasz Kosman and Jakub Wojtczak, so if you have any questions or would like to discuss a Flutter-related topic, it will be a good time to do so. And btw. leave some more space in your bags since it seems you can grab a lot of swag during the event.
